Profile
Founded in 1977, The World Gemological Institute (WGI) is a
leading nonprofit gemological research center and diamond
grading laboratory. For over 30 years the World Gemological
Institute has contributed to the global diamond industry by
contributing knowledge and expertise to all stages of a diamond's
voyage including rough sorting and analysis, diamond cutting and
re-cutting, and most importantly, the professional grading of the
finished polished diamond. During these stages, the World
Gemological Institute helps manufacturers, retailers and
consumers better know their diamonds so that each diamond can
fulfill its final purpose: enriching the life of its wearer.
